Seniors and Golf Playing

Many seniors love golf and would like to play it more often but have health conditions and nagging aches and pains which prevent them to play.

Here are few tips to help you minimize the pain and start playing again:

Use graphite shafts - Start playing with golf sets that have graphite shafts. The shafts should be specified as a Senior Flex. Senior flex shafts are appropriate for a golfer who swings less than 70 miles per hour and graphite shafts tend to absorb the vibration from hitting golf balls much better than steel shafts, especially on miss-hits. They also have added benefit of being lighter and produce anywhere from 5 to 10 extra yards of distance.

Play with larger grips - Play with larger grips because the larger grip make it easier to hold the club. Avoid standard grips because they are smaller in diameter and you may find yourself gripping much harder to control the club. Gripping too hard can cause pain and discourage you from playing.

Buy Bionic gloves - Another good solution to reduce pain in your hands are Bionic gloves. Bionic gloves have extra cushioning built into the fingers and palm and designed by leading hand specialists to improve comfort fit and performance. This patented technology offers unique benefits to all individuals who wear them but are enhanced for people with arthritis or hand problems. Bionic gloves are designed to be washable to improve durability and keep the gloves clean. You will enjoy more comfort, a better grip and twice the durability of a standard leather golf glove, thanks to their innovations. Their patented pad system provides stability to help keep the club from twisting on impact, giving you more confidence with every shot and help you perform better.

Exercise - Our last recommendation is exercises that strengthen and stretch the fingers. An easy way to strengthen your hands are foam balls or hand grippers. They are available in sporting goods stores and there are many types available. Choose the type you like the most and start squeezing and gripping. They really do help.
