Yaren

Yaren (area 1.5 km², population 4,900 in 2003), in earler times Makwa, is a district and constituency of the island nation of Nauru, located in the south of the island. The following government offices are located in this district:

• the Parliament House
• the earth station
• the administration offices
• the police station
• the Nauru International Airport and the air terminal
• the Moque Well

As the country has no cities as such, Yaren is usually listed as the capital of Nauru. Nauru has no official capital. Sometimes, Aiwo is listed as the capital. Yaren is accepted by the UN as the "main district". It returns 2 members to the Nauruan Parliament.:
