USS Michigan
Three ships of the United States Navy have been named USS Michigan in honor of the 26th state.
- The first USS Michigan, the Navy's first iron-hulled warship, operated on the Great Lakes for her entire career, and was later renamed Wolverine.
- The second USS Michigan (BB-27), a South Carolina-class battleship, saw action against Mexico and escorted convoys during World War I.
- The third USS Michigan (SSBN-727), the second Ohio-class submarine, no longer serves as a ballistic missile submarine, but will be converted into a guided missile submarine (SSGN).
