Unrounded vowel

In phonetics, an unrounded vowel is a vowel which is produced without any rounding in the lips. Some examples of unrounded vowels include the English vowels found in the words "heed", "hid", "had" and "head".

There are two types of unrounded vowels: Spread and neutral.
