Umm Kulthum

Umm Kulthum (أم كلثوم, Oum Kalsoum) (Tamayya z-Zahira, Dakhliyya, 4 May(?) 1904Cairo, 3 February 1975) was an Egyptian singer and musician. She is the best known and most beloved of all singers in the Arab world. Even today many years after her passing, her records outsell all others in the Arabic language. Her style has been imitated by many. She is known for her deep and powerful voice and always holding a kerchief.
