The Gray Race is Bad Religion's eleventh full-length album, released on February 27, 1996.

This was the first album that was produced after guitarist Brett Gurewitz's departure. Brett did not like the album and noted that it was "BR's worst selling record to date" and described it as "uninspired." However, it achieved modest success when MTV ran a commcercial for the album. It reached #56 on the Billboard 200 and spawned the moderately successful single "A Walk" in the United States. It was also the first album since How Could Hell Be Any Worse? that the band recorded as a group. Part of the reason for this was financial, but Greg Graffin also wanted to foster a sense of unity following Brett's jarring departure. It was the first album that Greg solicited the opinions of other band members before they recorded the album. Graffin said that collaboration significantly improve the sound and quality of the album.
