Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith is the third episode of the Star Wars film series, to be released on Thursday, May 19, 2005. It is said to be be the darkest of all the Star Wars movies.

George Lucas has said that this will be the last movie created in the series, as of the time of production release of '. Nevertheless, rumours and speculation persist about the creation of Episodes VII-IX. It is unlikely, however, that George Lucas would allow Star Wars to be continued in film without his direct involvement. Lucas once said that ' would be the last Star Wars film created.

Warning: Plot details follow.

This movie is expected to fill in the gaps in the storyline between ' and the original Star Wars movie (now called '). The film will be set two or three years after Episode II, therefore it will be set in either 20 BBY or 19 BBY. It is believed that, in this movie, Anakin Skywalker is seduced by the Dark Side of the Force and becomes Darth Vader, while Supreme Chancellor Palpatine declares himself Emperor. Meanwhile, Padmé Amidala gives birth to Luke and Leia; Obi-Wan takes Luke to Tatooine to be raised by Beru and Owen Lars; and Leia is taken to be raised on Alderaan. R2-D2's and C-3PO's memory banks may be wiped. A great purge of Jedi is also expected, including, as actor Samuel L. Jackson put it, the "satisfying" death of Mace Windu. A new villain General Grievous is expected to play a pivotal role in the film as well.

Several other outstanding questions may also be resolved, such as how some Jedi spirits live on in the Force, while others do not.
