Spanish scale

The Spanish scale (also the Jewish scale) is commonly used in Hebrew prayers and in Spanish music.

It is constructed by:

  • Raising the third of the Phrygian scale (the third mode)
  • Lowering the second, sixth, and seventh of a Major scale

Series of intervals:
H -3 H W H W W
H = Half Step
W = Whole Step
-3 = Minor third or three half steps
