Sarcasm

Sarcasm is the making of remarks intended to mock, often humorously, the person referred to (who is normally the person addressed), most commonly using vocal irony. It derives from the Greek verb "sarkazein", meaning "to tear flesh".

The term is often misused as a synonym for irony.
