Phrygian mode

The Phrygian mode is the major scale starting on the third tone. Examples are:

The E Phrygian mode is the C major scale starting on E. The A Phrygian mode is the F major scale starting on A. The B Phrygian mode is the G major scale starting on B.

Interestingly, a note is in the Phrygian mode of a given tone if and only if the given tone is in the major scale of the note being mentioned first.

Additionally F# minor is sometimes referred to as Phrygian.
