Photoemission spectroscopy

Photoemission Spectroscopy (XPS) was developed by K. Siegbahn, who in 1981 won the Nobel Prize for Physics for his XPS work. Due to the short range of the photoelectrons excited in this process, XPS tends to be highly surface specific.
