Petrovsk

Petrovsk (Петро́вск) is a townlet in Yaroslavl Oblast, Russia.

The village Petrovskoye (Петро́вское) was first mentioned in a chronicle at 1207. In 1777 it received town status and became Petrovsk. Sometime during the Soviet era Petrovsk has been stripped of its town status and became townlet Petrovskoye. Still, the name Petrovsk continues to be commonly used (Petrovskoye may be found only in official documents).
