Persian is the evolved form of Meowth. It has fairly low total stats but exhibits some surprising features, like its ability to learn Bubblebeam and Thunderbolt through TMs. Giovanni, the leader of Team Rocket, has a pet Persian. Perhaps not coincidentally, his behavior with the cat looks very similar to another evil-mastermind-and-cat pair: Inspector Gadget's Dr. Claw.

Name Origin

Persian may just be named after the real-life breed of cat, the Persian.
