Penectomy

Penectomy is the total or partial surgical removal of the penis. This is usually done for one of two reasons:

• Penile cancer
• Sexual reassignment surgery (SRS) from male to female (not all transsexual or transgendered individuals go through such invasive surgery) - however modern methods involve a penile inversion, or occasionally colovaginoplasty, and not a simple removal of the penis.

Less commonly, but still well documented, there are many people who undergo voluntary penectomy as a form of extreme body modification.
