Peberholm

Peberholm, literally "Pepper islet", is an artificial island which was built as part of the Oresund Bridge between Denmark and Sweden. The islet was constructed in proximity of the small natural island of Saltholm.

Peberholm is protected by strong laws and only biologists are allowed to visit the Island, apart from trains and cars, once a year. The island is a biological experiment, the nature is meant to colonize and make the island flourish on it's own, without human interaction.

Peberholm is built up off soil from the deep of the Öresund which was left over when the Öresund Bridge was built. In the soil many strange, extinct or uncommon seeds were buried and the island is rich of many very rare plants.
