Peace treaty
A peace treaty is an agreement between two hostile parties, usually countries or governments, that formally ends a war. Famous examples include the Treaty of Versailles, formally ending the First World War, or the peace treaty signed at the Appatomatox Courthouse, formally ending the American Civil War. Not to be confused with a cease-fire, such as those that suspended the Korean War or Gulf War.See also:
