Oulainen is a municipality of Finland.It is located in the province of Oulu and is part of the Northern Ostrobothnia region. The municipality has a population of 8,198 (2003) and covers an area of 597.60 km² of which 9.86 km² is water. The population density is 13.9 inhabitants per km².
The municipality is unilingually Finnish.
