Ottoman Turks

The Ottoman Turks were the ethnic subdivision of the Turkic people who dominated the ruling class of the Ottoman Empire. They were founded by the Turkish sultan Osman (Uthman), an Oghuz Turk and a Ghazi leader who came to power in 1280. He ruled over an area in Northwest Asia that had been part the empire of Constantinople until it was taken over by Oghuz Turks.
