Osoyoos, British Columbia

Osoyoos, British Columbia is a small, scenic town in the Okanagan Valley on BC's southern border with Washington State. It boasts the title of the only desert in Canada. Its terrain fits this image nicely, with sandy hills, tumbleweeds and rattlesnakes, and a hot, arid climate.

In summertime, the Okanagan Valley is the hottest place in Canada.

There is also a border crossing between Canada and the United States between Osoyoos and Oroville, Washington.

The name Osoyoos means "narrowing of the waters" in the local Native American language.
