Marshall Taylor
Marshall Walter ("Major") Taylor (November 26, 1878 - June 21, 1932) was the cyclist who won the world 1-mile cycling championship in 1899, 1990, and 1901. Marshall W. Taylor was the second black world champion in any sport. He bagan as an entertainer at age 13. The Major Taylor Velodrome in Indianapolis, Indiana is named in honor of Marshall Taylor.He was born on a farm in rural Indiana to parents Gilbert Taylor and Saphronia Kelter.
