Kashubian, Cassubian (one of the Pomeranian dialects) is one of the Lekhitic languages, which are a group of Slavonic languages.

It is assumed that in year 1000 it was spoken by some tribes of Pomeranians called Kashubians, in the region of Pomerania on the southern coast of the Baltic Sea between the Vistula and Oder rivers.

In 2000 it has some 200,000 speakers mainly in Eastern Pomerania in north Poland.

Sometimes called a dialect of Polish.
