HTLV

HTLV stands for Human T-Lymphotropic Virus and it is a human, single-stranded RNA retrovirus from the subfamily Lentivirinae that causes T-cell leukaemia and T-cell lymphoma in adults and may also be involved in certain demyelinating diseases.

There are Type I, Type II and type III of HTLV.

HTLV-III was a name that was applied to HIV in the early literature and has now largely fallen out of use.
