Grise Fiord, Nunavut

The Inuit settlement of Grise Fiord (pop. 163) is the northernmost community of Nunavut and of Canada. It is located at the southern tip of Ellesmere Island, and is the only permanent settlement on the island. (While Alert and Eureka are further north, they are military and weather stations with no permanent inhabitants.)
Grise Fiord's Inuit name is "Aujuittuq" which means "place that never thaws." Grise Fiord means "pig fiord" in Norwegian.
