Elea

Elea was a Greek city in southern Italy, known for its philosophical school, founded in the 6th century B.C. This school contested the traditional religious ideas (Homeric anthropomorphism) and was the first school to introduce the idea of pantheism in the Western world. Its ideas greatly influenced Parmenides and Zeno of Elea.
