Claude Berri

Claude Berri is a French film director, actor, screenwriter and producer. Born in Paris in 1934, his films (as director) include Jean de Florette and Manon des Sources (both 1986) and Germinal (1993) - at that time the most expensive French feature film ever made.

Berri won the "Best Film" BAFTA for Jean de Florette, and has also been nominated for no less than twelve César awards, although he has yet to win one. Berri also won the Oscar for best live action short at the 39th Academy Awards in 1966, and produced Roman Polanski's Tess which was nominated for Best Picture in 1981.
