Chita, Russia

Chita (Чита́) is a city in Russia, administrative center of the Chita Oblast. It is located at confluence of Chita and Ingoda rivers.

Population 336,000 (1985).

Known since 1653, town status since 1851.

In 19201922 it was the capital of the Far East Republic.
