Bodvar Bjarke

Bodvar Bjarke is the hero in Rolf Krakes Saga, and in Bjarkamal. He seems to be the same mythical hero as Beowulf (cf. Sigurd, also known as Siegfried).

Unlike Beowulf, he is said to have been Norwegian. However, his brother was the king of Gautland (Geatland), and it was from Geatland that he arrived in Denmark. Moreover, upon arriving at the court of Denmark, he kills a monstrous beast that has been terrorizing the court at Christmas for two years.

Like Beowulf, he aides Adils (Eadgils) in defeating Ale (Onela), and he kills a dragon.
