100 Club100 Club, Oxford St, London W1, UK. Legendary venue which forced the initial UK punk rock explosion on to a bigger platform in 1976 / 1977. Bands which played there initially were Sex Pistols, Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Clash, 999, The Slits and Eater. Later to become the home of the new hardcore punk rock sound from 1981 onwards for a number of years featuring The Varukers, Discharge, Charged GBH, Picture Frame Seduction, English Dogs, and still putting on bands like The Angelic Upstarts, UK Subs, and many more. The real home of UK punk rock from 1976 - 1986. Club promoted by Ron Watt who is featured in the film The Filth and the Fury. Bads who have played here are considered to be at the forefront of the punk rock music scene of the times going on to pioneer certain genre's of punk rock. |
